Enthalpy uses small-scale environmental chambers and EPA air testing methods to develop emissions profiles for facilities that would otherwise need to build total enclosures or use emissions factors. Our lab-scale data have been accepted by regulatory agencies in lieu of field testing.

Enthalpy's test chambers permit precise duplication of production conditions and use purified supplied air or gas mixtures with carefully chosen interior surfaces to demonstrate non-detect background levels. Emissions are reported as mass pollutant per mass of raw material and as concentrations over time.

Numerous analytical techniques are available, with FTIR spectroscopy often proving most versatile for documenting emission trends of multiple compounds. Materials emission test plans can be configured to ASTM Small-Chamber Standard D5116-06 and relevant EPA air methods.

Enthalpy's Material Testing and Off-Gassing Studies

    • Cost-effective emissions characterization for hard-to-test sources
    • Field conditions duplicated in small-scale environmental chambers
    • Cost-effective - avoid total enclosure requirements
    • Ideal for curing, drying, or storage operations
    • Emissions reported as mass pollutant / mass materials
    • FTIR spectroscopy, GC, GC/MS, and other analytical techniques are available
    • Testing according to ASTM Small-Chamber Standard D5116-06 and relevant EPA air methods
    • Identification and quantification of off-gassed VOCs
